Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships

with Surfing England

(3 March 2025) For over a decade the Caravan and Motorhome has been proud to support Surfing England and the incredible surfing community.

This year the Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships, organised by Surfing England - the recognised National Governing Body for Surfing in England - will take place at Fistral Beach, Cornwall, 5-7 April 2025.

Building on the success of last year’s expanded 3-day Priority championships, this year’s U16, U18 and Open contest will again follow the same format. Divisions: Shortboard only – Men’s/Women’s Opens, U18 Boys/Girls, U16 Boys/Girls.

This prestigious event, with top level surfing, will have fierce competition for English Champion titles and showcase England’s top surfers.

Helping surfers get closer to the surf and create new memories ahead of summer, the Club has two campsites near the event, perfect for tourers to enhance their camping experience and witness some first-hand, action-packed surfing. Surfers can also benefit from the Club campsites as an affordable spot to rest heads in between hitting waves, indulge in hot showers and make use of the laundry areas, which means no more damp wetsuits the next day.

Treamble Valley Club Campsite

Located in a 36-acre woodland park in an undulating valley, Treamble Valley Club Campsite is ideal for families and wildlife enthusiasts looking to have some fun and adventure. Tourers may be lucky to spot some rabbits, buzzards, bats and owls all from the comfort of their outfit. There is a secluded play area for children and extensive dog walking trails in the area. The campsite is also a spot for excellent sea views, perfect for catching a sunset. Both surfing event venues are held a short drive away from the campsite.

St Agnes Beacon Club Campsite

This campsite is well positioned for tourers to see panoramic views of the Cornish coastline to St Ives and take in Cornwall’s fresh sea air. Tourers can trek the gorgeous coastline taking in the breathtaking views and rich flora and fauna. The campsite is within walking distance from the town of St Agnes and a short distance away from the event venues for some great surfing spots.

Brian Morgan, Head of Communications and Events for the Caravan and Motorhome Club, said: “The Club is incredibly proud to support the surfing community and Surfing England. As like-minded communities, we all embrace the outdoor lifestyle and the benefits it brings.  The Club operates the largest network of top-quality campsites, set in beautiful and scenic locations in the UK – many close by to some of the best surfing venues. Whether you are going away with a roof tent, caravan, motorhome or campervan, we’ve got the locations and facilities you need to help you get the most out of your pastime.”

A team from the Club will be at the events to welcome competitors and spectators and they will be joined by Martin Dorey MBE - adventurer, surfer, swimmer, cyclist, campervan owner, green activist and founder of The 2 Minute Beach Clean Foundation. Come along, meet the team, take part in a beach clean, watch some incredible surfing and build some lasting memories.

With many people preparing for a great spring getaway, the Club looks to remind holidaymakers of the many choices of campsites surrounded by sea air and nature - perfect for outdoor adventures. The Club has also launched its best range of promotions in the Club’s history with 10 percent off selected stays, £25 off summer getaways, tour for less offers and kids staying for £1. Strong sales and visitor attendance at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show 2025

The 2025 Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show closed on a high, with some exhibitors reporting significant sales increases and an engaged audience of leisure vehicle enthusiasts at the NEC Birmingham. Some brands saw sales soar by 20% compared to last year, reinforcing the Show’s position as the premier start-of-season event for the UK’s leisure vehicle industry.

Across the six-day event (Tuesday 18 - Sunday 23 February), a strong footfall of 89, 207 visitors (excluding exhibitors) contributed to a vibrant and dynamic Show, with thousands of visitors eager to explore the latest motorhomes, caravans, campervans and camping innovations. From first-time buyers to seasoned touring enthusiasts, the Show proved to be an essential destination for those looking to invest in the freedom of outdoor adventures.

Exhibitors have hailed the show as a major success, with Slavica Sterk, Managing Director at Adria UK, commenting that expectations had not only been met but exceeded. “We expected a strong performance, but the show has exceeded all our expectations. Sales are up by 20% from last year and it’s clear that this is the right place to showcase our vehicles. The ability to engage directly with enthusiastic customers in a dedicated show environment has been invaluable.”

Steve Sharpe, Group Managing Director at Lowdhams, echoed this sentiment, describing the event as “fantastic - well-organised, brilliantly attended and a real highlight for the industry. Seeing so many new and returning customers eager to explore and invest in leisure vehicles reaffirms just how important this show is.”

Simon Howard, Marketing Director at Bailey commented on the importance of the Show in delivering sales. “The Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show remains a key event in our sales and marketing calendar, with NCC Events successfully delivering an audience of just under 90,000 visitors to view our latest caravan, motorhome and campervan models over a six-day period. In spite of the challenging economic conditions retails sales levels remained solid and we look forward to returning here again next year.”

Ben Parkin, Sales Director at Coachman, also praised the event, noting that it had been “a solid show, with a good level of interest in our latest range. We’ve seen positive engagement from visitors, leading to encouraging sales. It’s always valuable to be here and connect with customers in this environment.”

Amy Cooper, Manager at Rolling Homes, said: "The Show has been absolutely fantastic! We’ve had such great engagement with customers and the quality of visitors has been excellent. It’s been amazing to see so many new faces interested in what we do. A really great Show all around!"

Oli Arnold, Founder of Vanlife Conversions said: "Our first year exhibiting at the Show has been amazing! We’ve had a great flow of customers every day, all impressed with the event and absolutely loving the vans. We couldn’t be happier with how it’s gone!"

Mike Ellard, Owner at Escape Campers said: It's our first Show at the NEC and it's gone beyond our expectations. We certainly look forward to returning.”

Andrew Robson, PR Executive at The Camping and Caravanning Club said: "We’ve had a great time speaking to our members and meeting newly signed members during the Show. The popularity of our members’ area has been a real highlight, reflecting the enthusiasm and passion for camping and touring holidays. Listening to people sharing tips on their favourite Club Sites has been a real pleasure, and we’re looking forward to seeing our campers throughout the year."

Harvey Alexander, Director of Marketing and Membership Services at the Caravan and Motorhome Club said, "It was great to be at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show. The teams on both of our stands enjoyed welcoming Club members and show visitors and sharing inspiration and tips for touring trips to help everyone get more from the great outdoors. Our daily forum schedules with expert speakers were very popular."

Karen Dodd, Marketing Director at NCC Events, commented “It’s been encouraging to see such enthusiasm from both visitors and exhibitors. We’re delighted to have welcomed thousands of enthusiasts to the Show as well as introducing the benefits of ownership to those visiting for the first time, right at the start of their leisure vehicle and camping journey.

The positive sales results reinforce the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show’s role as a key retail event for the industry. We’d like to thank all of our exhibitors, partners and speakers for helping us present another fantastic Show and of course all the visitors who travelled from across the UK to explore the latest products and experience the fun activities that were on offer. We hope they came away with inspiration to get planning their next adventure in the great outdoors.”

For those who missed out this time, the adventure continues later in the year with the Motorhome & Caravan Show, returning to the NEC from Tuesday 14th - Sunday 19th October 2025. A signature event in the industry, the Show is used by the leading UK and European manufacturers as a launchpad to present their new 2026 season models and innovations. The Show is the UK's largest leisure vehicle event, showcasing an even greater choice of campervans, caravans and motorhomes to compare and buy - before they are available on the forecourts. The Caravan and Motorhome Club’s Motorhome and Campervan Design and Lightweight Leisure Awards 2025

(27 February 2025) The results of the twenty-sixth Caravan and Motorhome Club Motorhome and Campervan Design Awards were announced recently along with the results of the twenty-first Lightweight Leisure Awards.

New for 2025, the Lightweight Leisure Awards welcomed roof tents for evaluation alongside trailer tents. Roof tents are an easy and affordable option to enjoy the touring leisure pursuit.

Judging took place during the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC in February and via desktop assessment prior to viewing the motorhome and campervan vehicles.

Ninety-two vehicles were submitted for the Motorhome and Campervan Design Awards and twenty-eight vehicles were entered in the Lightweight Leisure Awards. These Competitions provide the best quality, and quantity, of information to members and buyers.

The motorhome and campervan vehicles went through a rigorous desk based evaluation prior to the judges going to the show. The expert panel collectively spent over one thousand hours going through an immense amount of data from websites, brochures, handbooks and entry forms to complete in depth evaluations via desktop.

The entries were thoroughly assessed against an extensive criteria including security, electrics, bed sizes, solar panels, kitchen, washrooms, heating, leisure batteries, technical aspects, USB sockets and entertainment. The vehicles were also evaluated regarding mechanical specifications, ISOfix points, number of seat belts provided, ease of parking assist technology and driver’s aids.

At the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC, the judges then viewed the vehicles to complete this comprehensive judging process.

Similarly, Judges for the Lightweight Leisure Awards assessed everything from weights and measures to Thermal Insulation Grade and recommended tyre pressures. Further scrutiny awarded merit for build quality, setting up on campsite, together with sleeping and living accommodation.

Nick Lomas, Director General of the Caravan and Motorhome Club said, “Our sincere congratulations go to all the winners in the Motorhome and Campervan Design Awards and the Lightweight Leisure Awards. We would like to thank our industry colleagues for their continued support of these awards. Data gathered from the judging process enables the Club to provide information to potential consumers looking to either begin a touring lifestyle or change their vehicle. I’d also like to thank our judging panel for their hard work and dedication assessing the competition entries.”

He has a keen interest in caravan design, owning a small collection of vintage caravans from the 1960s – 1980s which he has restored himself. His grandparents first joined the CAMC over 50 years ago, and he still has the little 1966 Sprite 400 caravan that they joined the Club with way back then. Chris has a strong technical background being a structural engineer who has specialised in dynamics and is a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Technical Committee.
